This project explores the compositional foundation of product design. Focusing on a variety of inherent proportions, cleqr directionality, and strong visual clarity, I iterated on design from its most base form before ultimately deriving its function.
I began with identical rectilinear forms of varied inherent proportions with a clear hierarchy of axes.
One fragment was removed so that it strongly impacted the dominant axis.
Five abstract compositions, each with three volumes, one curve, and one plane. One was to be an accented volume, paired with its fragment, featured in a way which aesthetically enhances the composition.
Final compositions were selected down to explore further.
Once the final composition was drafted, I imagined the product's purpose and explored how it might function. Placement, scale, and directionality were then translated to the higher fidelity prototype.

This project taught me a lot about investing in process. It was equally challenging and freeing to take each step without having an idea for a final product.
